We are looking for an HR Generalist to support a broad range of people operations for a contract position based in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role will help maintain efficient HR processes, provide day-to-day employee support, and contribute to a positive workplace experience across key human resources functions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in administration, onboarding, benefits support, and HR systems while managing sensitive information with accuracy and care.
Job Responsibility:
Support daily human resources operations by maintaining employee records, interviews, processing documentation, and ensuring administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Guide new hires through the onboarding process, including preparing paperwork, coordinating orientation activities, and helping employees transition smoothly into the organization.
Respond to employee questions related to policies, procedures, benefits, and general HR matters while providing clear and attentive support.
Assist with employee relations matters by documenting concerns, coordinating follow-up actions, and helping promote consistent application of workplace policies.
Administer benefits-related activities such as enrollments, updates, and employee communications while helping resolve routine issues.
Maintain and update information within HR systems such as Workday and ADP, ensuring data integrity and timely entry of personnel changes.
Prepare standard HR reports and track workforce information to support compliance, internal planning, and management requests.
Partner with the HR team and other departments to improve workflows, support ongoing initiatives, and help maintain organized department operations.
Requirements:
Experience working in a generalist HR role with responsibility across employee relations, administration, onboarding, and benefits support.
Knowledge of core HR processes and best practices, including personnel documentation, policy interpretation, and employee service.
Proficiency with HRIS platforms and human resources software, including experience with Workday, ADP, or similar systems.
Ability to generate and maintain HR reports with strong attention to accuracy, confidentiality, and detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees and internal stakeholders.
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining organization.
High level of discretion when handling sensitive employee information and workplace matters.
