The HR Generalist manages leave of absence (LOA) processes, employee relations, and HR compliance in a fast-paced environment, partnering closely with field leadership. This role oversees Workers’ Compensation, Short-Term Disability (STD), FMLA, and other state-mandated leaves across all 50 states, with an average caseload of 50 active leave cases per month. The HR Generalist provides guidance, ensures accurate processing, and maintains compliance while fostering a positive employee experience.
Job Responsibility:
Administer and manage employee leaves, including Workers’ Compensation, STD, FMLA, and other protected leave programs
Maintain an average caseload of 50 active leave cases per month in a fast-paced environment
Review and verify leave documentation
coordinate with employees, field/retail leadership, payroll, and benefits teams
Track leave timelines, documentation, and return-to-work dates to ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements
Maintain accurate records in HR systems, ensuring documentation is complete and audit-ready
Support return-to-work planning, transitional duty assignments, and workplace accommodations
Provide clear and timely communication to employees regarding leave eligibility, documentation, and benefits
Manage Workers’ Compensation claims from initial report through resolution
Administer STD and other disability benefits programs, ensuring proper documentation and timely processing
Coordinate modified or transitional work assignments with managers and employees
Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements
Partner with field and retail leadership on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance management, and workplace concerns
Conduct investigations and follow-up actions in coordination with HR leadership
Apply consistent HR policies and practices across all 50 states to ensure a fair and compliant workplace
Promote a positive and productive work environment through proactive HR support
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations related to leave and absence management
Maintain accurate records to support audits and compliance initiatives
Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures related to leave, Workers’ Compensation, and employee relations
Provide guidance and training to managers on absence management and HR best practices
Requirements:
3–5 years of HR experience, ideally with leave administration, Workers’ Compensation, disability benefits, or employee relations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Knowledge of federal and state leave regulations, Workers’ Compensation, and disability programs
Ability to manage multiple cases in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Manage stress effectively and make decisions under pressure
Maintain composure when handling sensitive employee matters
Work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
Sedentary position with prolonged periods of sitting
Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds may be required
Hearing, vision, and occasional bending required to perform essential duties
