We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on HR professional to support and manage the full spectrum of HR activities across two schools in Switzerland: St. George's International School and Geneva English School. The HR Generalist & Operations will play a key role in the day-to-day management of HR activities, including HR administration and payroll, recruitment and onboarding support, as well as responding to employee HR queries. The primary work location will be St. George's International School; however, the successful candidate will be expected to divide their time between both schools according to operational needs.
Job Responsibility:
Manage end-to-end HR administration throughout the employee lifecycle (contracts, onboarding, contractual changes, offboarding)
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records while ensuring data integrity within HR systems (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors)
Oversee absence management, leave tracking, and employee documentation
Ensure compliance with Swiss employment law, social insurance regulations, and internal policies
Assist in the preparation of HR reports and audits
Prepare declarations and manage follow-up related to illness, accident, APG, maternity, and paternity cases in coordination with insurance providers and external partners
Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures
Manage and coordinate monthly payroll processes, including data validation and reporting
Handle all payroll-related activities, including social insurance, tax at source, and salary certificates
Support month-end processes as well as workforce cost and FTE budget tracking
Support recruitment processes across both schools (job postings, coordination, and offers)
Manage permit applications and various administrative authorizations
Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and consistent employee experience
Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers regarding HR-related matters
Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations topics
Requirements:
Solid experience in an operational HR Generalist or HR Operations role within Switzerland
Strong knowledge of Swiss employment law, payroll, and social insurance processes
Proven ability to independently manage the full employee lifecycle
Experience managing HR activities across multiple sites is considered a strong asset
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems (e.g. SAP SuccessFactors)
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to balance operational execution while managing priorities across multiple stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels
Proactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
Resilient
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
HRSE certification or equivalent qualification required
The Swiss Federal Diploma in HR Management (Brevet fédéral de spécialiste RH) is considered an asset
Fluency in both French and English is mandatory
