The Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing a wide range of HR and safety practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable employment laws and organizational policies. This position provides consultation and support to leaders and staff regarding the full employee life cycle, including hiring, training, employee relations, benefits, and risk management. Additional duties include benefits administration, management of HR systems, coordination of safety programs, and maintaining required records.
Job Responsibility:
Advise management and staff on HR best practices, policy interpretation, and regulatory compliance
Oversee and maintain HR information systems, including employee data and benefits administration
Coordinate employee onboarding, benefits enrollment, and offboarding processes
Support employee relations, workplace investigations, and safety initiatives
Manage HR documentation, recordkeeping, and respond to audits/reviews
Partner with external vendors, legal counsel, and benefit carriers as needed
Ensure agency compliance with relevant employment and safety laws
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a senior or generalist capacity
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations
Strong experience with HR systems (such as ADP Workforce Now), and employee benefits administration
Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Experience in nonprofit settings and/or HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred
Ability to manage sensitive information confidentially and professionally
