We’re seeking an HR Director to join our Human Resources Department onboard Costa vessels.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the first point of contact for HR matters onboard
Ensure compliance with Company rules
Promote crew welfare
Strengthen communication between shipboard and shoreside management
Support a positive working culture
Contribute to the overall performance and wellbeing of the onboard community
Identify and report opportunities to simplify and improve HR processes
Support inspections (Port State Control, HESS etc.) in full alignment with Company procedures and the Maritime Labour Convention
Assist the Captain with compliance checks (e.g. work/break hours) and disciplinary disembarkation decisions
Manage investigations, disciplinary reports and cases of ethical misconduct
Support management in understanding and implementing Company decisions impacting personnel
Run the onboard HR desk
Contribute to recruiting, internal mobility and talent identification processes
Oversee Welfare and Wellbeing activities
Oversee learning and development activities (excluding HESS training) led by the Learning Officer
Welcome newly embarked personnel
Introduce key HR processes
Facilitate smooth integration onboard
Support the performance evaluation process
Facilitate conflict resolution between Crew Members
Support Office Management with planning, improving processes and delivering special HR projects
Assist onboard officers and management in handling personnel‑related matters
Supervise the Chief Crew Housekeeping in allocating Crew, Staff and Officer cabins
Ensure effective communication to Crew Members using multiple channels (meetings, cascading, crew TV etc.)
Ensure your team implements and maintains an effective HESS management system
Enforce and promote safety procedures within your area of responsibility
Contribute to a work environment that supports a strong and sustainable safety culture
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field
At least 3 years of experience managing staff
At least 2 years of experience in Recruiting and Industrial Relations
Strong competencies in investigations, negotiation, conflict resolution, coaching, counseling and disciplinary supervision
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
English knowledge at C1 level
Knowledge of Italian at C1 level
Knowledge of a third language among French, German, Spanish, Portuguese or Mandarin (at least B2 level)
