Job Description

We are looking for an HR Claims Coordinator to support unemployment claims administration for a Long-term Contract position based in Albany, New York. This role focuses on managing claim-related documentation, coordinating with internal partners, and ensuring timely communication with state agencies. The ideal candidate brings strong HR administration experience, attention to detail, and the ability to keep sensitive records accurate and well organized.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage the full lifecycle of unemployment claims, from initial notice review through final resolution and record closure
  • Collect employment history, separation information, and related supporting materials needed to address claim filings accurately
  • Draft and submit responses to unemployment agencies within required timelines while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
  • Partner with HR, payroll, people leaders, and legal or compliance contacts to gather facts and support claim outcomes
  • Track determinations, appeal activity, hearing dates, and follow-up actions to ensure no deadlines are missed
  • Prepare case files, summaries, and supporting documentation for hearings and appeals involving unemployment matters
  • Maintain complete and orderly records of correspondence, claim updates, decisions, and historical outcomes
  • Review claim activity for recurring patterns, identify potential risks, and raise concerns to appropriate stakeholders
  • Answer internal questions regarding claim status and help refine standard procedures to improve claims administration efficiency

Requirements

  • Experience in human resources coordination, HR administration, or a related support function
  • Working knowledge of unemployment claims processing, documentation standards, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage sensitive employee information with discretion and a high level of accuracy
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and other systems used to organize employee and claims data
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across HR, payroll, management, and compliance teams
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize deadlines, maintain organized records, and handle multiple claims simultaneously
  • Familiarity with onboarding processes and broader HR compliance practices is preferred
