We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join our team in Glendale, California. This part-time, contract-to-permanent role requires a detail-oriented individual who can provide comprehensive human resources support, including compliance with federal and California employment laws. The successful candidate will oversee essential HR functions such as onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, leave management, and terminations, while fostering a positive and legally compliant workplace environment.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the onboarding process, including preparing offer letters, facilitating orientation, and ensuring completion of required employment documentation
Manage offboarding procedures, such as conducting exit interviews, processing final paychecks, and coordinating benefits termination
Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans, and handle open enrollment and life event changes
Address workplace issues with guidance and conflict resolution, conduct investigations, and draft performance improvement plans
Provide expertise in leave of absence management, including tracking eligibility, coordinating accommodations, and managing return-to-work processes
Develop strategies for terminations by conducting risk assessments, reviewing documentation, and responding to unemployment claims
Ensure compliance with labor laws by maintaining accurate records and applying HR policies consistently
Partner with leadership to align HR practices with organizational goals and foster a productive workplace
Coordinate background checks and pre-employment screenings to ensure candidate suitability
Serve as the primary HR resource, making independent decisions and maintaining confidentiality in all matters
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources, preferably in a standalone HR role
In-depth knowledge of California employment laws and regulations
Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
Strong documentation and investigation skills to ensure compliance and mitigate risks
Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on fostering positive workplace relationships
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred
Certification such as PHR, SPHR, or SHRM-CP is a plus
Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
