Our client is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking HR Business Partner to support business growth and organizational effectiveness within a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.This role partners closely with senior leadership to translate business priorities into actionable HR strategies and initiatives. The HRBP Manager will act as a trusted advisor, proactively identifying organizational needs, strengthening talent strategies, and driving initiatives that enhance culture, engagement, and operational performance across both retail locations and corporate functions.Success in this role requires strong business acumen, data-driven decision-making capabilities, an innovative mindset, and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with business leaders to develop and implement mid- to long-term HR strategies aligned with commercial objectives and organizational transformation
Provide expert guidance on employee engagement, performance management, workforce planning, succession planning, organizational development, and employee relations
Support organizational design initiatives to enhance structure, capability, and scalability
Lead workforce planning and talent allocation strategies to optimize productivity and ensure readiness during peak business periods
Manage complex employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with local labor laws while fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture
Collaborate with Centers of Excellence (COEs) to implement HR programs including learning & development, talent reviews, leadership development, DE&I initiatives, and compensation planning
Leverage HR data and analytics to inform business decisions, identify improvement opportunities, and measure program effectiveness
Drive employee experience initiatives and lead cross-functional projects to strengthen engagement and organizational culture
Mentor and support junior HR team members, promoting capability development and continuous improvement
Review and enhance HR policies, processes, and systems to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
Requirements:
Strong alignment with organizational values and a people-centered leadership approach
Demonstrated leadership competencies including strategic thinking, resilience, growth mindset, and learning agility
Minimum 7 years of HR experience, including at least 3 years as an HR Business Partner supporting both retail operations and corporate functions within a retail or customer-oriented industry
Proven ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional initiatives, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Strong IT proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and openness to leveraging HR technology tools
Native-level Japanese and business-level English
Solid knowledge of HR best practices and Japanese labor regulations
Experience in multinational or retail organizations is highly preferred
Comfortable working in a dynamic, results-driven, and evolving business environment
