Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced HR Benefits Manager to lead benefits strategy and administration for a large, multi-location workforce in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This Long-term Contract opportunity centers on shaping and managing health, wellness, disability, life, and retirement programs that support employees while aligning with organizational priorities and compliance standards. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, empathy, and the ability to explain complex benefits information clearly to employees and leaders at all levels. This role requires a regular on-site presence three days each week and offers the opportunity to influence benefit practices across U.S. operations with added exposure to Canadian employee programs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Direct the design, rollout, and day-to-day oversight of employee benefit programs, ensuring plans remain competitive, compliant, and responsive to workforce needs
  • Evaluate current health, life, disability, wellness, and retirement offerings and recommend improvements that balance employee value with financial stewardship
  • Create and maintain benefit policies, procedures, and program documentation to support consistent administration across the organization
  • Partner with leadership to provide guidance on benefits strategy, helping stakeholders understand market practices and make informed decisions
  • Communicate benefit details in clear, accessible language so employees at all levels can understand available options and program changes
  • Oversee compliance considerations related to leave administration, accommodations, and applicable benefits regulations, identifying and reducing organizational risk
  • Support benefit delivery within a large organizational environment, coordinating implementation efforts and resolving complex administrative issues
  • Contribute to HR systems and reporting activities, including collaboration involving Workday or similar HRIS platforms when needed
  • Provide insight into Canadian benefits administration to help support a smaller employee population outside the United States

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in human resources with significant responsibility for benefits management and administration
  • Demonstrated success managing benefit programs within a large organization or enterprise environment
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefit areas such as medical, life, disability, wellness, retirement, and related compliance considerations
  • Ability to translate technical or regulatory benefits information into practical guidance for employees, managers, and executives
  • Experience influencing leadership teams and recommending sound benefits practices in environments where guidance and education are needed
  • High level of empathy and interpersonal effectiveness when supporting a diverse employee population
  • Familiarity with leave compliance, accommodations, and risk management practices related to employee benefits
  • Experience with Workday or another HRIS platform is preferred
