Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified HR Assistant (Level 6) to join a specialist SEMH school in Burgess Hill. This full-time, temp-to-perm, term-time-only role provides strategic, complex HR support and advice, manages compliance, supports employee relations, and handles internal recruitment processes. This is a senior-level HR role, requiring advanced knowledge of HR functions and the ability to contribute to the school’s strategic objectives.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing complex, strategic HR advice to school leadership on a wide range of employee relations matters
  • Managing HR compliance, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to employment law
  • Supporting workforce planning, organisational design, and talent management initiatives
  • Handling internal communications regarding HR matters, recruitment checks, and staff onboarding processes
  • Managing HR systems, reporting, and data analysis
  • Contributing to HR projects and initiatives that support organisational strategy
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and assisting with audits

Requirements

  • Level 6 qualification in HR (e.g., Level 6 Diploma/Certificate in HR Management, Degree Apprenticeship, or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations
  • Experience managing complex HR processes and systems
  • Experience in internal recruitment processes, staff checks, and onboarding
  • Ability to influence HR policy and support strategic decision-making
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills
  • Experience working in a professional HR environment at a senior level
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
