We are looking for an HR and Workplace Specialist to join a manufacturing organization in Niles, Illinois on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will support employee relations efforts by addressing workplace concerns, conducting fair and well-documented reviews, and partnering with local HR and leadership teams to promote consistent policy application. The position is ideal for someone who communicates effectively, handles sensitive matters with professionalism, and can help foster a respectful and productive work environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead routine workplace reviews and support more sensitive employee matters with guidance when needed, ensuring each case is handled thoroughly and in alignment with company standards and labor requirements
Partner with site HR and operational leaders to carry out next steps following case findings and help maintain consistency in employee relations practices
Assess employee concerns, interpret applicable policies, and provide practical guidance to help resolve common workplace issues in a timely manner
Facilitate constructive conversations between employees and stakeholders to support informal resolution and reduce escalation where appropriate
Prepare summaries, reports, and case documentation while checking information for accuracy and raising discrepancies to the appropriate partners
Support change-related employee communications by working with HR partners to explain updates to workplace policies, procedures, or cultural expectations
Help employees understand how organizational changes may affect daily responsibilities, team interactions, or the overall work environment
Contribute to the development of processes and standard practices as the team continues to establish its operating model
Requirements:
Prior experience conducting workplace or employee relations investigations in an HR, employee relations, or similar environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive discussions professionally and respectfully
Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with employees, managers, and HR partners across the organization
Working knowledge of HR policies, compliance standards, and applicable labor or employment practices
Ability to analyze facts, document findings clearly, and handle multiple cases with sound judgment and attention to detail
Experience supporting conflict resolution, employee guidance, or mediation efforts in a workplace setting
Certification in workplace investigations, HR compliance, conflict resolution, or a related area is preferred
