Housing Solutions Reviews Officer

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct statutory homelessness reviews, including Section 202 reviews, in line with the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
  • Review and evaluate housing decisions relating to duty owed, suitability of accommodation, priority need, intentionality, and local connection
  • Apply the Homelessness Code of Guidance, Review Regulations, and relevant case law to ensure decisions are legally sound and defensible
  • Prepare clear, comprehensive, and well-reasoned review decision letters within statutory timescales
  • Monitor compliance with housing legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Analyse trends and outcomes arising from reviews to identify service improvements
  • Work collaboratively with Housing Solutions teams, Legal Services, and partner agencies
  • Engage with residents and stakeholders professionally, ensuring transparency and fairness in decision-making
  • Contribute to service development and quality assurance initiatives

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Urban Studies, Law, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in housing services, homelessness, reviews, or a related area
  • Demonstrable experience undertaking Homelessness Part 7 reviews, including Section 202 reviews
  • Strong working knowledge of: Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
  • Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Homelessness Code of Guidance
  • Review Regulations
  • Relevant homelessness case law
  • Experience working within a London local authority
