Job Description

We are currently working with a local authority in the South East seeking an experienced Housing Solutions Officer to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role will support the council's statutory homelessness service, managing a caseload of applicants and ensuring the authority meets its duties under homelessness legislation.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing homelessness applications from initial approach through to prevention, relief, and main duty stages
  • Completing homelessness assessments, Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs), and statutory decision letters
  • Providing housing advice and homelessness prevention support in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Liaising with landlords, temporary accommodation providers, and internal teams
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and ensuring compliance with legislation and local policies

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Homelessness Officer within a local authority
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including HRA 2017
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines
  • Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
