Housing Options Officer – Remote Rate: £29.35 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: 3-month rolling contract Location: Fully Remote We are seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join our team on a fully remote basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled homelessness prevention professional to support a busy service and deliver high-quality, customer-focused advice. You will be responsible for assessing homelessness applications, developing effective Personalised Housing Plans, preventing homelessness wherever possible, and ensuring statutory compliance under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage a caseload of homelessness applications from initial triage through to decision-making
  • Complete section 184 investigations and issue statutory decision letters
  • Create and manage Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs)
  • Prevent homelessness through negotiation, mediation, and alternative housing options
  • Liaise with landlords, support services, temporary accommodation providers and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate case notes and ensure all work complies with relevant legislation and local policy

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Housing Options Officer
  • Strong working knowledge of the HRA 2017, Housing Act 1996, and associated legislation
  • Experience in homelessness prevention, PHPs, and S184 decision-making
  • Excellent communication and case management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote caseload effectively
