Job Description:

Ashfield District Council have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Officer to join the team based in Kirkby-In-Ashfield. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and in return, you will receive a competitive salary. This is a challenging but rewarding role that gives you an opportunity to work with a great team and positively impact the local community.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a local patch of properties in the Ashfield district
  • Deal with all aspects of tenancy and estate management including providing advice and support to sustain tenancies
  • Work in partnership with stakeholders, and take enforcement action when necessary
  • Work out on our estates in the district, visiting customers in their own home, and establishing good relationships across the community
  • Manage a varied caseload, as well as the preparation of legal documentation and attendance at Court
  • Be organised and able to manage and prioritise a diverse workload with competing demands, be flexible to respond to unplanned situations and possess the problem-solving skills needed to deal with issues at pace and with accuracy

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in social housing (Council/Housing Association/Registered Social Housing) in a similar role
  • Up-to-date knowledge of housing practice and current social housing issues
  • Experience of working with the public and liaising with a range of stakeholders (voluntary/statutory and partner agencies)
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and to manage challenging situations
  • Experience of working within a team and proactively work towards joint targets
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, excellent IT Skills and be proficient in professional letter writing
