Job Description:

We are now seeking an ambitious Associate / Senior Associate to join our Leeds office to help us build and develop our practice. The work is varied, challenging and rewarding. You will be given the opportunity to work with clients to support them and the communities they work for in an ever changing legal and regulatory landscape.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare the case plan at the outset of the case
  • Prepare advice on procedural or evidential issues
  • Correspond with the defence and/or claimant and clients
  • Ensure that all factual evidence required to prove the allegations is obtained
  • Supervise paralegals
  • Instruct experts and identify if any amendments are necessary to the expert report
  • Prepare instructions to counsel (both our internal advocates and the external bar)
  • Attend conferences with counsel when required
  • Undertake advocacy in the county court and comply with court directions
  • Liaise with the client and the defence/claimant in the run up to the hearing
  • Supervise the preparation of the hearing bundle by the paralegal

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in running a high quality litigation caseload
  • Prior experience in anti-social behaviour cases
  • Prior experience in residential possession claims
  • Prior experience in civil injunctions
  • Prior experience in housing disrepair
  • Ability to work closely with clients
  • Ability to provide first class practical advice
  • Technically proficient in housing management work
