Job Description:

In this role, you will be required to provide high quality welfare support, information and advice to Council and Temporary Accommodation tenants, ensuring that they claim appropriate welfare benefits. You will investigate and implement initiatives to maximise their income, minimize the impact of welfare reforms, working with internal and external partners/agencies to identify various options for tenants. You will provide support to mitigate the impact of those transitioning to Universal Credit and work closely with colleagues to prevent rent arrears and improve rent collection. You will be working within the Housing Income Maximisation (HIMAX) team, alongside colleagues in the Income Management team, to provide a holistic package of support and interventions to tenants at risk of financial exclusion, developing and supporting strategies to prevent the accrual or debt among the more vulnerable groups.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide high quality welfare support, information and advice to Council and Temporary Accommodation tenants
  • Ensure tenants claim appropriate welfare benefits

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with local authorities
  • Proven track record of delivering quality support to vulnerable residents especially in the area of income maximisation and tenancy sustainment
  • Innovative in problem solving
  • Used to handling large caseloads
  • Able to engage well with customers in or at risk of going into debt
