Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Advisor to join a busy local authority team in South West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable housing professional to support residents with a range of housing needs, ensuring compliance with current legislation and delivering high-quality advice.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide comprehensive housing advice and homelessness prevention support
  • Assess housing needs in line with the Housing Act and relevant legislation
  • Manage a caseload of clients, including those at risk of homelessness
  • Conduct interviews and make decisions on housing applications
  • Liaise with internal departments and external agencies
  • Support customers with tenancy sustainment and rehousing options
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with GDPR

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Housing Advisor within a local authority
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation (Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017)
  • Experience managing housing caseloads and making statutory decisions
