Job Description:

This position provides housekeeping support services to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions as required by Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides routine, repetitive housekeeping tasks and duties to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions
  • Maintains cleanliness and orderly resident rooms and buildings
  • Ensures adequate amounts of paper towels, toilet paper and soap
  • Collaborates with the Activity Department for group activities by providing clean-up of garbage
  • Reports supply shortages and equipment problems or repairs needed to the supervisor
  • Completes simple, written reports, log sheets, and compliance checklists
  • Assists in the training of other workers
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Requirements:

  • Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school
  • Six (6) months experience in the housekeeping field
  • Ability to meet all agency vaccine/health related policies and guidance
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
  • Ability to work with various types of cleaning equipment and a variety of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals and solutions
  • Ability to stand, stoop, twist, and bend for the duration of the shift
  • Ability to lift no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work overtime including evenings and weekends
