Part-Time Housekeeper – Private Household, Mayfair. 3‑Month Contract | Weekends & Occasional Evenings | £23 per hour. An intergovernmental organisation is seeking an exceptional Housekeeper to support the Secretary‑General at their official Mayfair residence. This role requires professionalism, discretion, and the ability to run a high‑profile household with confidence and independence. You’ll ensure the smooth daily operation of the residence, overseeing maintenance, household standards, supplies, and domestic routines. You’ll also support small‑ and large‑scale events, manage other household staff, and interact with senior figures with tact and professionalism.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the upkeep, cleanliness, and organisation of the residence
Manage household supplies, inventories, and budgets
Prepare fresh, nutritious meals for the Secretary‑General, family, and guests (up to 12 people)
Handle laundry, ironing, errands, and light domestic duties
Supervise domestic staff and support residence security
Plan and coordinate receptions, dinners, and official events, including vendor and contractor management
Ensure protocol and formal standards are upheld at all functions
Liaise with the Conference Teams for official events
Support the Secretary‑General’s personal travel preparation and maintain close communication with their office
Interact appropriately with senior public and private figures
Coordinate with internal and external event organisers to ensure seamless operations
Requirements:
Experience in a senior housekeeping or private household role, ideally within an official or diplomatic residence
Strong event or banqueting management experience
Excellent communication, judgement, and interpersonal skills
Highly proactive, organised, and able to prioritise under pressure
Comfortable working independently and making decisions
Absolute discretion and confidentiality
Professional training in cookery, catering, or hospitality
Ability to prepare varied, fresh meals and cater to cultural or dietary needs
Understanding of health & safety and basic food hygiene
Full driver’s licence
Familiarity with diplomatic protocol and budget management
Nice to have:
Knowledge of African cuisine, customs, or languages
