Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Live-in/out Housekeeper / House Assistant to join the housekeeping team on a prestigious private shooting estate set in the heart of rural Hampshire. Surrounded by rolling countryside, ancient woodlands, and breathtaking views, this beautifully restored estate offers an exceptional working environment where discretion and service excellence are paramount. The Housekeeper / House Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the housekeeping and presentation of the main residence, guest cottages, staff accommodation and studio spaces. This role requires a professional, team-oriented individual who takes pride in creating and maintaining an exceptional household for the Principals and guests. The position reports into the House Manager.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform full housekeeping duties in the main house, guest cottages, studios, and staff accommodations
  • Daily cleaning including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitising all surfaces
  • Laundry care: washing, ironing, folding, and wardrobe management
  • Change and prepare bedrooms to a 5-star standard, including impeccable bed making
  • Polishing silverware and maintaining fine furniture, delicate fabrics, and materials
  • Ensure all rooms are presented to the highest standard at all times
  • Assist the House Manager with daily operations and liaise regularly to ensure priorities are met
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the housekeeping team
  • Communicate proactively regarding stock levels, maintenance issues, or cleaning needs
  • Regular inspections of all areas, including high-traffic and less-visible zones
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation throughout the property
  • Operate with complete discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Respect the privacy of all residents and guests on the estate
  • Monitor and manage cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and estate protocols

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a formal private household, high-end yacht, or luxury hotel
  • Exceptional attention to detail and high personal standards
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude and a team-player mentality
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to take initiative
  • Physically fit and energetic
  • Polished and professional appearance
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and capable of working under pressure
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, especially during shoot season
  • Comfortable assisting with a wide variety of household tasks
  • Passion for service excellence and pride in your craft
