We are looking for a costume-maker/designer with a background in industry and experience in teaching and research at University level. We are seeking someone who is a creative problem solver, communicates well, and works effectively in a team with a wide range of people. You will apply innovative approaches to teaching, learning or professional practice to support excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity, drawing on your own research or practice to develop learning and assessment practice. Building and maintaining positive relationships with students will be essential. The successful candidate will help MA Costume plan and undertake practice research to inform and inspire innovative costume artefacts. They will provide practical guidance and support in using appropriate equipment and processes, and feedback on work in progress and final projects. The role includes responsibility for delivering teaching at this stage, but is likely to involve supporting sessions with external experts/technicians/existing teaching staff. There may also be scope to deliver teaching/training sessions drawn from their experience going forward.

Requirements:
Qualifications or relevant experience in costume or garment construction, or related practice (dye/embroidery/millinery)
Experience of making/designing costume for stage/screen/historic recreation
Training in/or relevant experience of conducting archival and/or material culture research
Experience of teaching and assessment in an HE environment (as hourly paid, part time or full time)
An openness to, and ability to support, innovative and experimental creative practice
