The Hourly Kitchen Supervisor assists management by overseeing the daily operations of the location, maintains all standard operating procedures, and fosters a positive work environment. The Supervisor position is vital to overseeing the operations of the location to ensure all food is prepared and served according to health and safety regulations, the facility is clean, and the customers are satisfied with their services. The person in this role creates the tone and personality of the dining location by being an advocate and promoter of training and development, excellent customer service, product knowledge, and adherence to safety and sanitation policies providing support to the cooking process and guest service.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise hourly and student staff and oversee daily operations
Direct daily work assignments and support peak service periods
Open and close the location in accordance with management standards
Train staff on product knowledge, service standards, and safety practices
Foster a positive, harassment-free work environment
Document and report employee and customer issues
Assist with staffing, interviewing, onboarding, and scheduling
Participate in or lead foodservice meetings
Engage with guests to assess service quality and resolve concerns
Coach and provide performance feedback to promote growth and morale
Develop knowledge of guest preferences and recommend limited-time offers and promotions
Ensure accurate ordering and inventory using par levels and guides
Oversee food preparation in compliance with recipes, policies, and brand standards
Prepare work schedules and production materials as needed
Communicate operational updates and staff concerns to management
Use company tools to manage food, inventory, and labor costs
Maintain accurate ordering, pricing, and sales reporting systems
Oversee merchandising, displays, and marketing material execution
Maintain proper food storage and a clean, organized workspace
Ensure sanitation and safety of all equipment and work areas
Maintain food safety, temperature, and maintenance logs
Report workplace injuries and assist with emergency response procedures
Support catering events and seasonal menu execution
Assist with café menu development, promotions, LTOs, and pop-up stations
Manage grab-and-go and retail items
Maintain cleanliness of front- and back-of-house areas
Support office pantry and refreshment services
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must possess exemplary customer service skills
Attention to detail, organization skills, strong written/verbal communication skills
Serve Safe Certification
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds, while using proper transfer techniques and appropriate assistance equipment
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time, up to 75% of the shift
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late evenings dependent on business needs
Must be well groomed and maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
Previous Culinary supervisory experience in the hospitality industry of 2 to 4 years preferred
Previous restaurant experience preferred
Knowledge to operate and maintain a cost-effective program
Proficiency in multi-tasking
Driver’s License with clean driving record preferred
May be required to travel locally within the region (less than 25%)
