As a Hotel General Maintenance Engineer, you play a crucial role in performing routine and preventative maintenance throughout the hotel to ensure the proper functioning of all facilities and equipment, ensuring a attractive and comfortable environment for guests and staff. This individual performs a variety of maintenance trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment, HVAC, Painting, wall repair, tile work and upkeep of the preventative maintenance program of the resort/hotel. You will be working closely with different members of our team, so you will need to have a sense of urgency when needed and an engaging attitude. This is a Full-Time position that requires open availability to work any day of the week, both AM and PM shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Schedules may change weekly based on business demands.
Job Responsibility:
Perform routine inspections and maintenance on hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, and mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical)
Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and HVAC systems
Ensure proper operation of all hotel equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, plumbing, pool equipment and HVACs
Installing, repair and maintaining all types of wiring (electrical, data, communication, etc.), and lighting/intercom systems
Perform diagnostics on electrical components and/or controls of machinery or other commercial equipment
Troubleshoot and repair issues related to a variety of trades, including electrical systems, appliances, and HVAC systems
Respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution of issues
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and provide room status updates to minimize disruptions to hotel operations
Adhere to safety standards and regulations, following lock-out/tag out and other safety measures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and guests
Perform other duties as assigned by the management
Requirements:
Ability to effectively speak, hear, read, and comprehend instructions, both written and oral, in the English language
Strong problem-solving skills with ability to effectively handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as they arise
Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization
Able to adapt to unexpected changes, making quick and effective decisions regarding maintenance and repairs in high-pressure situations with a sense of urgency
Moves materials and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. regularly
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Capable of Working in dirty, dusty, or uncomfortable surroundings, including being exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and hazardous materials depending on the tasks performed
Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift
Ability to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery
including working from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding
to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and reach in all directions, often overhead
Move through various areas of the hotel, including mechanical rooms, guest rooms, public areas, and outside areas, with frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs, throughout duration of shift
Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully
Able to strictly observe and adhere to all safety regulations and standards, and that they are being followed throughout the hotel
Must have at least one (1) year of experience in general facility or building maintenance, preferably in a large hotel or hospitality setting
Experience in all maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and painting
Experience and safety knowledge using basic hand and power tools
Nice to have:
Relevant certifications in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building maintenance preferred
