The Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment to support efficient food service operations. This position is responsible for dishwashing, sanitation, waste removal, and assisting with basic kitchen support tasks while adhering to all health, safety, and sanitation standards. Job Responsibility:
Operate large commercial dishwasher equipment to wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in a timely and efficient manner
Hand Scrub pots and pans
Burnish, de-tarnish, and polish silver
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and back-of-house areas
Remove trash and food waste according to safety standards
Ensure that all kitchen equipment and supplies are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained
Assist kitchen staff with basic support tasks as needed
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety guidelines
Report safety or maintenance concerns promptly
Requirements:
Previous experience as a kitchen steward in a full-service restaurant, or similar food service environment that uses commercial cleaning equipment, is desired, preferably with a hotel
Availability to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays
Strong work ethic with ability to work well in a team and effectively communicate with staff
Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment and respond with a sense of urgency when needed successfully
Moving food, equipment, carts, and tubs up to 50 lbs. frequently, throughout shift, to perform essential job functions
Able to work in varying temperatures and noise levels, including exposure to hot surfaces and steam
Moving through-out kitchen and outside trash disposal areas for duration of shift
Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift
Frequent and repeated lifting, extending arms fully, reaching, twisting, pulling, bending, and stooping for duration of shift
Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation
