An Engineer at The Roxy Hotel has excellent communication and guest service skills, along with the ability to work alongside other talented Engineers and Hotel Team Members. The Engineer takes care of the entire hotel and outlet spaces and performs effective repairs in all of the areas. The Engineer is a team orientated member of the hotel engaging with fellow Team Members and assisting wherever possible. The Engineer is Guest focused in regard to anticipating the Guests needs, practicing pro-active Service Recovery (i.e. “How is your stay going”, and reporting back challenges/fixes to Guest Services for proper profile updates and Service Recovery follow-up
Job Responsibility:
Perform preventive maintenance/corrective maintenance in rooms and on equipment
Reports daily to Engineering Manager concerning the building statuses and irregular conditions
Providing exemplary guest service, striving to solve guest concerns and ensuring that all guest rooms are in the best condition and that all guest room services leave the room immaculately
Report all guest concerns and unrepairable items to GSR for guest profile follow up
Work with all departments to complete tasks at hand, communicate when working in another department’s space
Follow look book and training SOP guidelines, ensure all craftsmanship is above standard
Repairs guest rooms and public spaces
Repairs systems that include electronic locking, safes, minibar refrigerators, television system, and telephone jacks/phones
Assist in ground keeping for seasonal maintenance
Possess a basic understanding of all building equipment
Able to self-direct and coordinate repair of equipment in a quick and cost effective manner
Able to work safely and respect all aspects of security and loss prevention
Wear safety gear as required by guidelines
Able to communicate well with team members and hotel guests
Effectively communicate with team members across various departments and with hotel guests
Keep a neat shop and keep your tools and supplies organized
Varying temperatures from workspace to workspace and seasonal outside in the spring to help setup the grounds
Requirements:
FDNY Fire Safety Director (F58 or F85) Certification a plus
Refrigeration and sprinkler/standpipe licenses are a plus
EPA Universal Refrigerant handling preferred
Technical Schooling preferred or equivalent work experience
Familiar with HVAC systems and building operations
Effectively communicate with team members across various departments and with hotel guests
Must be detail-oriented
Must be a self-motivated, responsible person
Must be able to work on multiple projects and deadlines at the same time
Work well under pressure and within deadlines and budgets
Follow directions from written plans and allow for flexibility when there are changes in plans and/or direction
Must be able to work safely and be cognizant of surrounding working conditions
Must be able to safely recognize hazards when working with tools and address safety considerations
Nice to have:
Experienced in wall coverings, paperhanger, and touch-up a plus
