We are looking for a highly motivated Full-Time Banquet Captain to join our team! This individual is responsible for overseeing banquet events, including service staff performance and event set-up, to ensure exceptional guest service and smooth operations. You will act as the liaison between many different parties, including the Banquets Manager, Events Sales Manager, Event Host and Guests, Kitchen and Banquet Staff, and more. As the personal representative of the property, your job is to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee all aspects of banquet service, including setup, service and breakdown, in accordance with the event BEO.
Coordinate with the kitchen and catering staff to ensure timely food preparation and delivery.
Provide a warm and welcoming greeting to guests as they arrive.
Manage banquet staff in a professional manner, including assigning tasks, training, and providing guidance.
Conduct pre-event meetings with staff to review event BEO details, timelines, and guest expectations.
Review menu with staff, including how items are prepared, cooking methods and all ingredients.
Answer guest questions regarding menu items and available beverage options.
Monitor and address guest satisfaction during events, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
Assist with inventory management, ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are available for events.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Food and Beverage Director, Banquets Manager or Director of Catering.
Requirements:
Previous experience in the position of banquet captain, or similar event leadership role, is required, preferably with a hotel.
Availability to work any day of the week, with no scheduling restrictions, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to effectively understand and communicate in the English language with guest and restaurant staff.
Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and oral.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities in a fast-paced environment and respond with a sense of urgency.
Able to make quick and effective decisions to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth operations.
Moving up to 50 lbs. frequently, throughout shift.
Extend arms
frequent reaching, twisting, pulling, bending, and stooping.
Frequently standing, walking, and ascend/descend stairs throughout work shift.
Moves about the hotel and banquet areas for duration of shift.
Ability to observe and adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and company guidelines for food handling, cross-contamination protocols, and sanitation.
Food Handler Certification and Texas TABC Certification are required.
