Job Description

We're looking for a detail-oriented and organized Hotel Accounts Clerk to join our accounting team in Johannesburg, South Africa Mercure Randburg. In this role, you will provide essential support to our accounts department, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and timely processing of transactions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong numerical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Process and verify invoices, expense claims, and purchase orders with accuracy and efficiency
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and identify discrepancies for resolution
  • Maintain and update the general ledger and accounts payable/receivable records
  • Prepare financial reports and statements for management review
  • Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Enter financial data into accounting software systems with precision
  • Organize and maintain filing systems for financial documents and records
  • Communicate with vendors, departments, and external parties regarding account inquiries
  • Assist with accounts reconciliation and audit preparation
  • Monitor and track hotel-related expenses and departmental budgets

Requirements

  • Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting roles
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurate data entry and bank reconciliations
  • Knowledge of hotel accounting practices and hospitality operations (preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and month-end closing procedures
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
