As a Host/Hostess, you will play a key role in supporting exceptional patient nutrition care by receiving, interpreting, and executing patient diet orders, delivering and collecting meal trays, and ensuring patients receive menu selections aligned with their prescribed diets. You will serve as a vital liaison between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services by communicating patient food needs to the appropriate team members and assisting clinical staff in meeting all basic nutrition care requirements. Your attention to detail, compassion, and commitment to service help create a positive and healing experience for every patient you encounter.
Job Responsibility:
Receive, interpret, and execute patient diet orders
Deliver and collect meal trays
Ensure patients receive menu selections aligned with their prescribed diets
Act as a liaison between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services
Communicate patient food needs to appropriate team members
Assist clinical staff in meeting all basic nutrition care requirements
Answer phone line for room service patients' calls and requests
Document food order received over the phone
Call nursing stations, patients, and other employees to clarify diet orders
Organize paperwork and files of room service meal orders
Observe patient's current diet on meal tickets
Set up patient trays to be delivered, deliver patient trays during meal service and deliver nourishments and/or snacks to patients as ordered by physician/dietitian in a timely manner
Visit patients to introduce the services of the Food and Nutrition Services Department
Obtain food preferences/dislikes from patients and/or family members
Ensure that all new admits receive a menu to select lunch and dinner
Complete sanitation tasks
Inventory and re-stock pantries, refrigerator, and freezers on assigned unit(s)
Ensure prompt response to requests for service and follow up if delays or product availability problems are identified
Maintain the privacy, safety, and dignity of each customer by observing client confidentiality and by strictly adhering to safety and sanitation standards
Follow Food Production Standards in regard to handling techniques, food storage, and proper food temperatures
Complete production sheets and temperature logs
Deliver early and late patient trays as needed in a timely manner
Review therapeutic diets using established patterns as a guide
Mentor/train new host/hostesses effectively
Requirements:
Ability to fluently speak, read, and write English
Demonstrates proficiency in using CBORD computer system
Able to push carts weighing up to 350 lbs.
Able to twist, stoop, bend and squat.
Able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
20% of the day is standing, 60% walking and 20% sitting.
Able to maintain focus and perform multiple tasks at one time.
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
