The Host/Hostess is responsible for welcoming and seating guests in the restaurant. The role involves managing reservations, organizing seating arrangements, and ensuring a smooth patron flow during each meal period. This customer-facing position will be the first person that interacts with customers and must demonstrate a pleasant demeanor and expedite seating as quickly as possible. They must manage the dining area and work with the servers, food attendants and kitchen teams so that all patrons have a positive dining experience. When customers are leaving, the Host/Hostess will thank them, solicit feedback on their experience, and initiate service recovering for any outstanding service concerns.
Job Responsibility:
Greet and seat guests according to standards
Keep track of waiting list and open tables
Maintain work areas clean and organized
Report all unsafe conditions immediately
Assist Servers by setting and clearing tables, replenishing water and serving beverages
Answer the phones and take reservations
Clean and sanitize menus
Maintain cleanliness of host stand by wiping counters, organizing items
Open and close rooms as assigned
Receive and record reservations
Set up food server stations
change according to business flow
Calculating and issuing change for “to go” orders
Attend required meetings
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor to include cross training
Organize “to go” orders by placing the order and delivering to guest
Place daily specials in menus
remove specials at assigned time
Requirements:
High School diploma
Previous customer facing experience in restaurant or retail operation
Good communication skills
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Computer proficiency to use the resort’s point of sale and reservations system
