Constellation is seeking confident, personable, and multi-skilled Hospitality Plate Waiters and Hospitality Bar Staff to join our team at the NEC Birmingham — one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic exhibition and live-event venues. This is an exciting opportunity to work across VIP dinners, corporate hospitality suites, live events, exhibitions, and premium event spaces, delivering first-class service in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver professional table service to guests across VIP and corporate areas
  • Serve plated meals and premium beverages to the highest standard
  • Confidently explain menu items and respond to guest queries
  • Set up and prepare hospitality suites and event spaces
  • Clear tables efficiently and maintain a clean, organised environment
  • Support both front-of-house and bar operations as required
  • Prepare and serve a range of beers, spirits, wines, and soft drinks in line with service standards
  • Maintain bar presentation, cleanliness, and stock organisation throughout service
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen, bar, and management teams
  • Uphold all food safety, hygiene, licensing, and health & safety procedures

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a plate waiter, bar staff member, waiter/waitress, hospitality host, or similar hospitality role
  • A strong background in both waiting and bar service is essential
  • Experience in premium hospitality, hotels, restaurants, event venues, or corporate hospitality environments
  • Confident carrying and serving plated meals in a professional hospitality setting
  • A good understanding of bar operations, including service standards, stock awareness, bar setup, and maintaining an efficient service during busy periods
  • Strong product knowledge of beers, spirits, wines, and other beverages, with the confidence to answer guest questions and make recommendations where appropriate
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Professional, well-presented, and confident manner
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, flexible, and team-focused attitude
  • Comfortable switching between waiting and bar duties depending on event requirements
  • Must be 18+
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
  • Previous hospitality service experience in both waiting and bar service is essential
  • Knowledge of responsible alcohol service and licensing requirements
  • Availability for event days, exhibitions, and live-show schedules
