This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the hospitality industry and explore various facets of Club Operations. The intern will develop a strong understanding of the day-to-day operations that contribute to a positive guest and member experience. During this internship, the Accounting Intern will develop analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills while learning accounting best practices specific to hospitality and club management. The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting daily accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls while working closely with the Accounting and Finance team.
Job Responsibility:
Work in high volume situations
Attend all required staff meetings, intern classes, and assigned rotations
Deliver final case study presentation to management team
Work with team members to ensure cleanliness, quality, and efficiency across all areas
Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship opportunities
Maintain safety and health policy
Complete any additional tasks assigned by a supervisor or manager
Promote and adhere to standards set by Seabrook Island Club
Lead by example and promote Seabrook Core Values, Characteristics, Employee Constitution and Decision Making
Gain comprehensive knowledge of Seabrook Island Club’s accounting and finance operations
Develop analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Learn accounting best practices specific to hospitality and club management
Gain hands-on experience supporting daily accounting functions, financial reporting, and internal controls
Work closely with the Accounting and Finance team
Assisting with daily accounting operations that could include accounts payable and accounts receivable
Learning and supporting month-end closing processes
Assisting with member charges and answer member emails/phone calls
Assisting with data entry and maintaining accurate financial records
Supporting reconciliations of bank statements, general ledger accounts, and member accounts
Understanding internal controls and accounting procedures within a private club setting
Collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
Assisting with audits and financial reviews as needed
Work closely with all members of the Accounting department
Shadow the Senior Staff Accountant, Controller, and other finance leaders
Attend a variety of different classes throughout the 12 weeks
Complete a final project and present to a group of managers
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a hospitality program at an accredited college/university
Some customer service experience preferred
Excellent communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work with others required
