The Section on Hospital Medicine is seeking a physician leader with experience in operations, finance, and quality to serve as Medical Director of Hospital Medicine at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist - Davie Medical Center. The successful candidate will lead the hospital medicine team and report to the Section Chief / Specialty Medical Director for Hospital Medicine – Wake Area. AHWFB Department of Internal Medicine, Section on Hospital Medicine, is seeking an Academic Hospitalist with training in Internal Medicine to join our dynamic inpatient team at Davie Medical Center, in Bermuda Run, North Carolina. As a Hospitalist within the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist system, you'll be an integral part of a dedicated healthcare team, collaborating with physicians, nurses, case managers, specialists, and clinical pharmacists to ensure safe and effective patient care during hospital stays.
Job Responsibility:
Create synergy and collaboration within Wake Forest Baptist Health System with regards to patient care
Collaborate with the local Davie Medical Center leadership
Collaborate with the Section Chief on hospital medicine and Director – Faculty Clinical Operations
Provide leadership and direction for the hospital medicine provider team at Davie Medical Center
Develop effective communication with attending physicians, advanced practitioners, subspecialists, surgical colleagues, emergency room colleagues and primary care providers
Develop and implement hospital medicine provider coverage model for 32-bed medical unit at Davie
Oversight of DMC Advanced Care beds and partnering with the WFBH Critical Care shared service as well as Advanced ICU Care
Ensure that physicians and advanced practitioners are meeting clinical and quality expectations
Manage the hospital medicine group to ensure core measures and patient experience metrics are met
Ensure that the hospitalist and advanced practitioners at Davie Medical Center are provided opportunities to teach and learn evidence based medicine
Manage the budget and finances with the administrative team for the hospital medicine group at Davie Medical Center
Ensure that billing is completed in a timely manner
Ensure that coding and documentation are done accurately
Admit patients
Monitor patient progress and making necessary treatment adjustments
Engage in discussions with patients and their families about their care
Facilitate communication with the patient's primary care team
Provide essential medical records
Cover day shifts
Cross-coverage of all ward patients
Determine patients that require transfer to tertiary hospital and facilitating such transfer
Respond to Rapid Responses and CODES for your patients
Coordinating with Nursing Staff and responding to questions/concerns overnight
Provide appropriate hand-off/sign-out at the conclusion of their shift to the day team

Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited medical school and ACGME-accepted Internal Medicine residency program
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Active license to practice as physician from NC Med Board
ACLS certification
