Under the general direction of the department manager or designee, the trainer is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining a comprehensive staff training program for Hospital Services and all aspects of the distribution of blood and blood components. Trains Technician I and II skill levels. Participates in developing, reviewing, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Performs all duties of Hospital Services Technician I and II when not training staff.
Job Responsibility:
Assists patient services management in the development, implementation, maintenance and presentation of a comprehensive department-wide training program
Maintain a proficient level of competency in the distribution of blood and blood components
Develop, implement, and facilitate competency assessment for patient services functions
Coordinates individual performance statistics, discusses trends with patient services management team and implements timely re-training
Work effectively with vendors and manufacturers as necessary for optimal training subject matter and resources
Work with quality and patient services staff to ensure quality processes and cGMPs are in place
Assist departmental management and leadership with deviation management investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action
Serves as subject matter expert and assists with the development, review, and validations of SOPs, supplies, and equipment
Coordinates and implements new hire orientation for new employees
Participates in special projects to implement new initiatives, improve processes, or enhance operations
Participate in department meetings, training activities, continuing education programs, and other associated activities
Incorporates customer service in all training and serves as a resource and positive role model
Performs other tasks and duties, as assigned
Requirements:
1-2 year’s blood bank or distribution/manufacturing operational experience preferred
Previous training experience preferred
Understanding of training methodologies and previous experience with quality assurance activities preferred
Knowledge and familiarity with FDA requirements desirable
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge and demonstrated ability to design, develop, present, implement, conduct and evaluate training
Ability to develop and conduct training needs assessments and surveys
Good listening skills with the ability to receive and comprehend detailed oral or written information
Good assessment, judgment, and problem-solving skills
Good interpersonal and customer service skills
Understanding of quality control (QC) and good manufacturing practices
Good organizational and time management skills
Excellent training techniques, curriculum, or program development
Effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and email software
