Job Description:

Under the general direction of the department manager or designee, the trainer is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining a comprehensive staff training program for Hospital Services and all aspects of the distribution of blood and blood components. Trains Technician I and II skill levels. Participates in developing, reviewing, and revising Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Performs all duties of Hospital Services Technician I and II when not training staff.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assists patient services management in the development, implementation, maintenance and presentation of a comprehensive department-wide training program
  • Maintain a proficient level of competency in the distribution of blood and blood components
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate competency assessment for patient services functions
  • Coordinates individual performance statistics, discusses trends with patient services management team and implements timely re-training
  • Work effectively with vendors and manufacturers as necessary for optimal training subject matter and resources
  • Work with quality and patient services staff to ensure quality processes and cGMPs are in place
  • Assist departmental management and leadership with deviation management investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action
  • Serves as subject matter expert and assists with the development, review, and validations of SOPs, supplies, and equipment
  • Coordinates and implements new hire orientation for new employees
  • Participates in special projects to implement new initiatives, improve processes, or enhance operations
  • Participate in department meetings, training activities, continuing education programs, and other associated activities
  • Incorporates customer service in all training and serves as a resource and positive role model
  • Performs other tasks and duties, as assigned

Requirements:

  • 1-2 year’s blood bank or distribution/manufacturing operational experience preferred
  • Previous training experience preferred
  • Understanding of training methodologies and previous experience with quality assurance activities preferred
  • Knowledge and familiarity with FDA requirements desirable
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to design, develop, present, implement, conduct and evaluate training
  • Ability to develop and conduct training needs assessments and surveys
  • Good listening skills with the ability to receive and comprehend detailed oral or written information
  • Good assessment, judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Understanding of quality control (QC) and good manufacturing practices
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent training techniques, curriculum, or program development
  • Effective use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, and email software
  • Professional, business appearance
  • Good attendance
  • Flexibility in schedule to meet deadlines
  • Ability to travel – other locations
