Job Description

CarePoint is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) to support our thriving hospital medicine program in Wichita, KS. Primary location will be Wesley Hillside, with some coverage at Wesley Woodlawn. Wesley Hillside is a complex regional referral hospital and an ACS Level I Trauma Center with multiple residency programs and comprehensive specialty services.

Job Responsibility

  • Serve as a critical liaison between physicians, the patient care team, and dispensing pharmacies to facilitate seamless communication and collaborative patient management
  • Coordinate and schedule patient follow-up appointments
  • Provide support for essential administrative processes, including assisting with prior authorizations, coordinating discharge prescription processing, and facilitating death certificate completion
  • Aid physicians in the preparation of official patient documents, such as FMLA, short-term disability, and return-to-work forms
  • Systematically track, organize, and maintain accurate records of all new patient encounters
  • Apply robust clinical judgment and the nursing process to advance patient health, well-being, and safety in strict accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and care standards
  • Maintain personal accountability, act as a professional role model, and uphold the highest ethical, legal, and professional nursing standards

  • Arranges transportation for transfer and liaisons with nursing to facilitate RN handoff
  • Reviews patient for transfer based on geographic proximity to affiliate hospitals and necessary service, utilizing service availability lists and in discussion with the Strong Memorial Hospital provider team for the applicable department
  • Documents in an accurate, timely manner in the EHR (electronic health record) transfer intake
  • Updates patient encounters for affiliate locations ensuring accurate insurance information, demographic information, service and accommodation information
  • Answers incoming calls for service requests, enters accurate data in appropriate system (EMR) for RN follow up
