Hospital Laboratory Tech - Immunogenetics Lab

• Under the direction of the supervisor, the incumbent performs technical tasks associated with the area to which he/she is assigned in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures
• Specific duties in the Immunogenetic Laboratory will include receipt and processing of clinical specimens submitted for HLA testing
• Tasks will include receiving specimens from couriers, accessioning specimens in the laboratory information system, processing specimens for further testing
• Additional duties may include supply/inventory management, lab-related clerical support, communications with laboratory customers, and other duties as assigned

• Graduation from college with a major in an applicable natural science
• or two (2) years of college courses in the natural sciences plus two (2) years of applicable experience
• or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• One year of previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting, properly identifying, prioritizing, processing/preparing all specimens in a manner that ensures viability and sample integrity throughout the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic processes in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures
• Experience with the operation and maintenance of analyzers and instruments in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures as assigned
• Experience with properly, accurately, and legibly preparing all required documentation/maintain/handle all required records, including computer data entry, in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures as assigned
• Communicates effectively with co-workers, customers, staff, others, and serves as a technical resource as needed
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
