Job Description:

Serenity Hospice is seeking a Hospice Chaplain for our Salem team. Looking for meaningful work with supportive leadership and great benefits? At Serenity Hospice, we help families through their toughest moments - and we support our clinicians every step of the way. We prioritize connection over quotas, to build trust and truly focus on care. Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs spiritual bereavement assessments of patients and families/caregivers in the hospice program in a timely manner and ensure that identified needs are addressed in the patient’s plan of care
  • provides direct spiritual care and bereavement counseling to patients and families/caregivers
  • demonstrates exceptional service to patients, families, referral sources, co-workers, and other customers
  • provides accurate and timely documentation of patient services to reflect the plan of care
  • attends group meetings to facilitate coordination of care and discussion of interdisciplinary group involvement
  • provides consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care and bereavement counseling
  • participates in Continuous Care and on call, if necessary
  • assists in supervision of spiritual care volunteers when assigned to patient’s families/caregivers as needed
  • assumes responsibility in directing the development and implementation of the bereavement plan of care and the frequency of service delivery
  • make available bereavement services for up to one year following the death of the patient

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited seminary or school of theology and/or a certificate of ordination or commission from a religious faith group
  • completion of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred
  • previous hospice experience working with death and dying strongly preferred
  • comfortable in an interfaith setting and able to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values
  • valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required
