Job Description:

Homemakers (HM) services are provided to clients who require physical assistance and verbal queuing with homemaking tasks. The goal of services is to maintain a client's optimal level of functioning while maintaining dignity and independence. Services include client assistance with shopping, menu planning, laundry, general household tasks such as meal preparation and general household care when the client is temporarily, or permanently, unable to perform such tasks for him/her self or others in the home.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work cooperatively with family, agency supervisor, and others involved with the client
  • Follow instructions and take pride in work
  • Inform Supervisor of unusual incidents or significant changes in client's condition
  • Assistance with shopping, menu planning, laundry, and light housekeeping
  • Abide by all Infection Control policies
  • Perform light household management and cleaning
  • Laundry (wash, iron & mend)
  • Clean bathroom fixtures weekly
  • Perform normal household services essential to health care at home
  • Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment
  • Record activities performed on activity sheet
  • Attend and complete in-service education programs as required

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of an approved 40-hour HM training program
  • Current certificate upon hire
  • Current CPR Certification preferred
  • Maturity, flexibility and ability to plan and organize activities
  • Current TB test upon hire and yearly
  • Completed 37 hours of training related to HM responsibilities
  • Current, valid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation with current auto/vehicle insurance
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Competence in the skills necessary to perform the job functions

Nice to have:

Current CPR Certification preferred
