Homelessness Team Manager – South East London Location: South East London Rate: £38.97 per hour Umbrella Contract: 3 Months Ongoing Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm Working Pattern: To Be Confirmed We are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness Team Manager to join a busy local authority homelessness service in South East London on an ongoing interim contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced homelessness professional with strong operational leadership skills and in-depth knowledge of homelessness legislation, prevention and relief duties. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership, quality assurance and operational oversight to a team of Caseworkers delivering statutory homelessness services, ensuring decisions and interventions are lawful, timely, person-centred and fully compliant with legislation and statutory guidance.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the day-to-day delivery of homelessness prevention and relief casework
  • Oversee triage, assessments, Personal Housing Plans (PHPs) and statutory decision-making
  • Quality assure assessments, suitability decisions and case notes
  • Provide escalation support for complex, high-risk or sensitive cases
  • Hold a small caseload to support service demand and model best practice
  • Coach, supervise and develop officers through reflective practice and performance management
  • Ensure statutory timescales and service standards are consistently achieved
  • Work collaboratively with ASC, CSC, Health, Probation, VAWG services and voluntary sector partners
  • Support governance, audits, complaints and legal challenge responses
  • Promote trauma-informed, resident-focused and safeguarding-led practice

Requirements

  • Extensive experience within homelessness prevention and relief services
  • Previous management or senior supervisory experience within a local authority homelessness team
  • Strong knowledge of: Housing Act 1996 Part VII, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Code of Guidance and relevant case law
  • Experience managing complex homelessness and safeguarding cases
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop frontline officers
  • Excellent decision-making, communication and organisational skills
  • Experience working in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies

  • Perform random Breathalyzer and Urinalyses as needed
  • Responsible for assisting with maintaining staffing 24/7, to assure client safety and adherence to state licensing requirements. Be available to come in outside of normal work hours to address emergencies.
