Job Description:

Home Options Officer – Ongoing Temporary. This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional with strong homelessness prevention experience to join a busy frontline service focused on achieving positive outcomes for customers. You will provide a comprehensive housing options service, working proactively to prevent homelessness and support customers to secure and sustain suitable accommodation. The role involves managing a varied caseload, completing statutory assessments, and working closely with partner agencies to deliver effective housing solutions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver frontline housing advice with a focus on homelessness prevention and relief
  • Assess cases in line with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • Work with customers to retain existing accommodation or secure alternative housing options
  • Support vulnerable households, including rough sleepers and those fleeing domestic abuse
  • Liaise with landlords, support services, prisons, hospitals and other partner agencies
  • Manage caseloads, maintain accurate records and communicate decisions clearly
  • Assist customers accessing the private rented sector, including prevention schemes where applicable

Requirements:

  • Experience within Housing Options, Homelessness Prevention or a similar frontline housing role
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and statutory duties
  • Experience working with vulnerable customers and complex cases
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work in a performance-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
