This is an immediate, full-time opportunity for a dedicated History Teacher to step into a key position within a large, co-educational secondary school and sixth form located in Leeds. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging History lessons across the full 11-18 age range, contributing to the strong academic progress of the humanities department. This role demands a commitment to high teaching standards, curriculum development, and active participation in the wider school community.
Job Responsibility:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and well-structured History lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
Assess, monitor, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of all assigned students
Establish and maintain a stimulating, safe, and positive learning environment within the classroom
Implement and enforce the school's behaviour management policies consistently and fairly
Contribute to the creation and review of departmental schemes of work and teaching resources
Attend and contribute constructively to department, staff, and parental meetings
Act as a tutor, undertaking pastoral duties and supporting the social and emotional well-being of a designated group of students
Undertake all necessary administrative tasks related to the role, including record-keeping and data analysis
Supervise and manage any teaching assistant support assigned to the classroom
Participate in the school's extracurricular programme, offering clubs or revision sessions related to History
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Up-to-date knowledge of the current UK History curriculum and assessment frameworks
Eligibility to work in the UK
Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)
Subject Expertise: Deep and current knowledge of historical periods and themes
Differentiated Instruction: Proven skill in adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication for engaging students and liaising with parents/staff
Organisation: Superior planning, time management, and administrative skills
