Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Histopathology (or within 6 months of CCT/CESR)
FRCPath or equivalent qualification
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Histopathology (or within 6 months of award at time of interview)
Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalence to the UK CCT
Extensive experience in Histopathology within a DGH or equivalent setting
Strong experience in breast pathology, including screening programmes and reporting
Experience in non-gynaecological cytology, including fine needle aspiration (FNA) reporting
Broad exposure to all aspects of Cellular Pathology relevant to a general service

Job Responsibility

Provide a comprehensive histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology service, including diagnostic reporting across a wide range of specimens
Contribute to breast pathology services, including participation in screening programmes and specialist reporting
Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, particularly in areas of subspecialty interest
Engage in digital pathology reporting and contribute to network-wide case sharing and service development
Participate in local, regional, and national External Quality Assurance (EQA) schemes
Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and development of departmental protocols
Support teaching and training of junior doctors, medical students, and laboratory staff
Participate in departmental management, service planning, and administrative responsibilities
Undertake continuing professional development (CPD) and participate in appraisal and revalidation processes
Optional participation in post-mortem services, depending on interest

Provide medical second opinions as requested by clients or from colleagues
Describe and interpret histopathologic findings from bone marrow core biopsies
Provide scientific and technical advice to laboratory staff and Veterinarians with regard to sample collection and submission
Stay current on veterinary and medical practiced through continuously reviewing journal publications, text books and attending continuing education conferences and seminars
