Histologic Technician II

• Prepare human tissue for microscopic investigation and analysis by pathologists, including sectioning, treatment, slide placement, drying, and staining
• Accurately perform accessioning and clerical functions
• Assist pathologists with tissue cutting and autopsies
• Prepare slides with routine and special stains
• Maintain records
• Ensure proper chemical handling and tissue disposal
• Operate lab information systems securely
• Deliver accurate, timely lab reports

• Five (5) years experience in a histology laboratory that results in demonstrated proficiency in all phases of histologic technique
• Histotechnician (HT)
• Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy
• Treat co-workers, patients, visitors, and the public with dignity and respect
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all hospital personnel and medical staff
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Problem-solve effectively
• Work a flexible schedule and be willing to work additional hours if needed for the provision of quality patient care
• Skills in the preparation, embedding, cutting, and staining of tissue specimens, anatomic Pathology terminology and histology equipment, proper gross examination procedures
