Job Description:

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Highways Maintenance Supervisor to lead the planning and delivery of essential highway maintenance activities. In this role, you will coordinate operational teams, manage resources, and oversee on-site works to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the road network, minimising disruption to the public, and fostering a strong culture of safety and performance across the workforce and supply chain.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and coordinate highway maintenance activities to ensure works are delivered efficiently with minimal disruption to road users and stakeholders
  • Supervise operational teams and supply chain partners, driving high performance, accountability, and safe working practices
  • Procure plant and materials and manage road space bookings to ensure works are properly resourced and delivered on schedule
  • Prepare work packs and documentation, ensuring all Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental requirements are fully met
  • Oversee site operations, including safety briefings, inspections, depot management, and coordination of emergency or winter service activities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in highways maintenance, supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental standards within highway or construction environments
  • Experience planning works, coordinating resources, and managing operational teams or subcontractors
  • Ability to monitor budgets, track project performance, and manage changes to maintain financial control
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead teams and respond effectively to operational or emergency situations

  • Record data on various databases and spreadsheets to meet the National Highways Audit requirements

  • Assist with logging, closing and compiling information & data for Customer Contact Centre enquiries and claims
