Job Description:

As a Jointer, you will play a vital role in supporting the installation and removal of streetlighting across Devon, including connecting to DNO/IDNO networks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Installing, removing, and wiring streetlights and highways electrical furniture like signs and bollards
  • Working with a Jointers Mate to excavate joint holes, prepare cables for jointing, and complete service/mains jointing
  • Performing thorough risk assessments and adhering to strict safety regulations and guidelines
  • Responding to urgent situations as part of a rota system
  • Providing exceptional service to clients while ensuring public safety and satisfaction

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in an LV Cable Jointer role including work on ICP, DNO, or utilities excavation projects
  • Previously held certifications for underground connections to DNO/IDNO networks
  • Qualification or experience in working with live low-voltage (LV) single-phase service cables and terminations
  • Ability to safely remove and replace cutouts or secondary wiring fuses (single-phase only)
  • Competence in low-voltage supply point testing
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
  • To achieve higher salary: City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2, 2351, 2330 Levels 2 and 3, or an approved equivalent
  • Experience or qualification to remove and replace cutouts/secondary wiring fuses (single or three-phase)

Nice to have:

  • A current NRSWA qualification (Street Works Card)
  • Certification for network authorisations (NERS Passport)
  • AM2 or City and Guilds 2391
  • G39 Training for electrical safety
  • Cat 4C certification for live LV overhead mains conductors, service joints, and terminations
  • Class 2 HGV licence
  • Manual handling and first aid training
