As a Jointer, you will play a vital role in supporting the installation and removal of streetlighting across Devon, including connecting to DNO/IDNO networks.
Job Responsibility:
Installing, removing, and wiring streetlights and highways electrical furniture like signs and bollards
Working with a Jointers Mate to excavate joint holes, prepare cables for jointing, and complete service/mains jointing
Performing thorough risk assessments and adhering to strict safety regulations and guidelines
Responding to urgent situations as part of a rota system
Providing exceptional service to clients while ensuring public safety and satisfaction
Requirements:
Proven experience in an LV Cable Jointer role including work on ICP, DNO, or utilities excavation projects
Previously held certifications for underground connections to DNO/IDNO networks
Qualification or experience in working with live low-voltage (LV) single-phase service cables and terminations
Ability to safely remove and replace cutouts or secondary wiring fuses (single-phase only)
Competence in low-voltage supply point testing
A full UK driving licence
Comfortable working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
To achieve higher salary: City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2, 2351, 2330 Levels 2 and 3, or an approved equivalent
Experience or qualification to remove and replace cutouts/secondary wiring fuses (single or three-phase)
Nice to have:
A current NRSWA qualification (Street Works Card)
Certification for network authorisations (NERS Passport)
AM2 or City and Guilds 2391
G39 Training for electrical safety
Cat 4C certification for live LV overhead mains conductors, service joints, and terminations
Class 2 HGV licence
Manual handling and first aid training
