Job Description:

Highways Lighting Design Engineer – National Highways SDF. This is an opportunity to contribute to a major national infrastructure programme with long-term stability and flexibility. You’ll work on projects that make a real difference to the UK’s transport network while enjoying a hybrid working model and market leading rates of pay. This Street Light Engineering team is growing rapidly to manage existing street lighting / highway lighting design projects.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop technical reports, feasibility studies, designs, specifications, and contract documentation
  • Conduct daytime and night-time site surveys of street lighting
  • Support Environmental Impact Assessments, Economic Assessments, and Business Case development
  • Collaborate with clients, electricity suppliers, contractors, professional bodies, sub-consultants, and multidisciplinary design teams

Requirements:

  • Proven experience designing to British lighting/electrical standards (BS 5489, BS EN 13201, BS 7671)
  • Strong understanding of trunk and local road lighting requirements
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
  • Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., Lighting Reality, Dialux) and electrical design calculation tools (e.g., Trimble, Castline)
