Job Description – Highway Design Engineer (5 to 10 Years) 1. Key Responsibilities Highway Geometry Design Prepare horizontal and vertical alignment designs for highways, expressways, and urban roads. Design cross sections, super elevation, widening, and junction layouts. Ensure designs comply with Indian Roads Congress standards and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways guidelines. Detailed Project Reports (DPR) Lead preparation of DPR for highway projects. Conduct feasibility studies, alignment studies, and route selection. Review survey data including topographic survey, traffic data, and geotechnical reports. Design Coordination Coordinate with bridge, drainage, traffic, pavement, and utility engineers. Ensure proper integration of highway alignment with structures and drainage. Software-Based Design Use highway design software such as **AutoCAD Civil 3D **Bentley OpenRoads Designer **MX Road **AutoCAD Design Review & Quality Control Review drawings, reports, and calculations prepared by junior engineers. Ensure compliance with IRC standards, safety requirements, and project specifications. Client & Authority Coordination Coordinate with clients such as National Highways Authority of India State PWD departments Consultants and EPC contractors. Tender & Bid Support Assist in technical proposals, bid documents, and design reports. Provide design inputs during pre-bid and project planning stages. 2.
