Job Description:

Make a difference in the lives of young people with special needs! One of our fantastic partner SEN Schools is seeking passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our specialist team! They provide a highly supportive and stimulating environment for students aged 6 to 19 who have a range of MLD and SLD needs, including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated difficulties.

Job Responsibility:

Assist the Class Teacher in carrying out the professional duties of a teacher
Know and understand the Class Teacher's curriculum planning and to plan, prepare, and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities
Provide high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences
Support the day-to-day running of classes across the school and take the lead in the absence of a Class teacher
Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils
Monitor pupils' conduct and behavior and intervene to resolve issues
Ensure a high standard of personal care for the pupils

Requirements:

Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification
GCSE pass above C (or 4 in the new GCSE system) in English and Maths
Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD and ASD
Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
Able to work within the parameters of the physical demands of the job role
