Job Description:

Justeachers are seeking an experienced and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to get involved in a state of the art SEMH school in Cheadle. The school is a specialist school for children aged 4 to 16 years old with a wide range of SEND needs. The role is to start in June.

Job Responsibility:

Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group SEMH interventions, offering consistent pastoral support to pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs
Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood and supported in their emotional well‑being
Support pupils to develop emotional regulation, resilience, positive behaviour strategies and key social skills through structured and therapeutic approaches
Use de‑escalation techniques to manage heightened emotions and behaviours, and support restorative conversations to repair relationships and promote reflection when required

Requirements:

Experience working with children in a SEMH/SEND or intervention-based role
Strong knowledge and understanding of SEMH/SEND strategies and inclusive practice
A calm, consistent and encouraging approach
Two or more education based references within the last 2 years
