We are seeking a High Voltage Engineering Specialist to lead the design, integration, and compliance of HV systems and grid connections for utility-scale energy projects, including BESS This role will support the full project lifecycle from concept through commissioning ensuring all systems meet grid codes, utility requirements, and industry standards.
Job Responsibility
Lead the development of grid connection strategies and concepts
Ensure compliance with TSO/DSO requirements and grid codes VDE-AR-N 4110/4120/4130
Define compliance frameworks, simulation scope, and certification requirements
Develop and define operational modes
Interface with grid operators and support connection studies and approvals
Design and review HV systems, including: Substations and switchyards, Transformers, HV cable systems and overhead line interfaces
Develop and validate: Single Line Diagrams, Equipment specifications, Electrical layouts and earthing concepts
Ensure integration between HV, MV, and plant systems
Define and assess protection philosophy and relay settings
Oversee SCADA / PPC / EMS integration
Coordinate interfaces between: HV systems, Power Conversion Systems, Plant control and automation systems
Ensure compliance with power quality, dynamic performance, and grid-support requirements
Support installation and site activities for HV equipment
Contribute to energisation procedures and commissioning
Review FAT/SAT and commissioning test procedures
Support grid compliance testing and performance validation
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or equivalent
Extensive experience in high-voltage systems typically ≥110 kV
Proven track record in grid connection of power plants, BESS, or renewable projects
Experience with grid compliance processes and certification
Grid code compliance
Power system studies
Grid connection procedures and permitting
Substations transformers, HV cables
Protection systems and relay coordination
Earthing and insulation coordination
Experience with inverter-based resources
Power Conversion Systems / inverters
Grid-support functions reactive power, frequency response, black start
